What exactly is John 3:16? John 3:16 is a scripture in the Bible that was written by John. The Bible is the written Word of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit who used men to write these things. Meaning, the Bible was written by God Himself through the vessel of man. John the apostle, who wrote the book of John, was one of the disciples of Jesus Christ that walked with Him while He was still on earth. He refers to himself as John the Beloved- the one whom Christ loves. In the Book of John chapter 3:16 he writes, "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” The whole Gospel, which is the good news of Jesus Christ, is summarized in this short verse. Man was created to be in constant fellowship with God, but because of the sin of Adam and Eve, there was separation between God and man. That is because God is a Holy God in which there is not an inch of sin or darkness. So when man sinned, God could no longer have intimacy with man as He once had in the garden of Eden. So then, for man to be in right standings with God, they had to have a high priest offer sacrifices for themselves and the people. But Gods plan was always to restore intimacy and fellowship with His creation. God always longed to be close to us. That’s why He gave His one and only Son, Jesus The Christ, to come to earth and live a perfect life- but then be crucified so that, by the atonement of the Blood of Jesus, the world’s sins will be washed away and we can be back in right standings with the Father again. That is why Jesus said, “No one can come to the father except through Me,”because the righteousness of man is filthiness to God. The only way we can come to the Father is by believing in Jesus Christ, who died on the cross for all of our sins and became the ultimate sacrifice on our behalf. He took upon himself the punishment for our sin. So John wrote "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life". So my question to you is this- Do you believe in that statement? Do you believe in Jesus Christ? Our life span is but a dot in eternity, and you are either going to spend eternity in hell, or in Heaven with your Father- The choice is yours. You do not go to Heaven based on how good of a person you are, but it is on the mere fact that you belive in the One who died on the cross for your sins. So I'll ask you again- Do you believe?

I believe John 3:16. I believe God loves me that much He sent His only Son Jesus Christ to die for my sins and rose Him from the dead on the third day. That was the biggest sacrifice of all. And I love God for it more and more each day.
